The notion of a micro-orthodontic appliance may seem like a completely novel idea. However, proof of concept was established more than 15 years ago with the pioneering work of Dr. George Kyritsis and the manufacturing savvy of Mr. Lee Tuneberg, former V.P. of American Orthodontics.
Through this collaboration it was assessed that metallic miniaturized orthodontic attachments could be manufactured with relative ease.
Bond strength was clinically acceptable and biomechanics were found to be straight forward with no real learning curve for an experienced orthodontist.
